My dear ones, I propose a break from all this talk of violence and regulation and riots. Surely discussion must go on, but I prefer to turn my attention toward more enriching exploits. In my spare time I have been reading a number of books in the library, some containing plays and others in the progression of dramatic technique since my passing. I am most intrigued and now have it in my head to put that stage in the dining hall to proper use -- with permission from the Wardens, of course.

I, of course, will direct, and look to my fair neighbors here to find a suitable cast and crew.

But what play to choose? Something with a little grit and guts, I think. Well-versed though I am in the older traditions, it is nice to see that theatre takes more chances in later times. It will be unusual to see a production that is not comprised of rhyming couplets.

I thought you might be interested, Mademoiselle.

I definitely am!

Now, when will the audition be?

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't the faintest, my dear. A play must be chosen first.

[identity profile] daisyadair1938.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope it's something dramatic. I always thought I did better with drama's than anything else.

Just don't select anything by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Please. For my sake.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think I've come across him. What does he do?

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Atrocious, derivative musical theatre.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. I haven't given much thought to musicals. Kind of pointless when I cannot hear the music, after all.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That is my intention, cheri.

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't read note charts? Not that it matters; a Barge musical would be an assault on all the senses.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I can read music. That doesn't mean I can hear it in my head.

And I could not agree with you more.

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I see.

Good luck selecting a suitable play.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You have no suggestions, sparrow?

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
...

The Importance of Being Earnest?

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall give it a look. The author?

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oscar Wilde, but... it's a comedy. If you're looking for something with more 'grit,' then you'd be better off with... ah... Salome?

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Salome like the Biblical tale?

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. It sparked a lot of controversy, when it was published, I believe.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall have to read it and see if it strikes my fancy.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
You have my permission.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you any suggestions?

[identity profile] tadwizard.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I could be in the crew, I did something like that back in my own world.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent.

[identity profile] captain-jtkirk.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Something funny.
