I am concerned for Pavi Largo's well-being. While normally I would have taken this up solely with him before, if this seemed less severe, but I am still aware that you are his Warden and do not wish to interfere in any efforts you are making toward his recovery.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that.

I have just afforded you a rare opportunity. I, as your Warden, was once an Inmate here, and I have laid before you the full details of my entire life's history -- before and after death. You have seen my successes. You have seen my failures.

Of course, you cannot use them as a weapon against me, but you can use them. What of your own questions can be answered? What have yet to be?

I have seen what is written on paper and...I can see some similarities between your case and mine. Why let me see it? Because you wanted to show me that fact? You wanted to try and gain my trust. The latter does not seem to make sense, as you never seemed to care about that in the first place. So the former? I suppose I can understand that.

So it is possible to be "cured" or "rehabilitated." Honestly, I was beginning to wonder if anyone was allowed to finish their...time here.

And I have nothing to gain by trying to use the information. I am intelligent enough to realize that you would not have given me anything that can be used against you, thank you.

As for questions, yes. I have a few, but I would like to find the answers myself if it is all the same to you.

I let you see it because it seemed like an act of fairness on my part. You have displayed a certain displeasure at being so exposed, so known, and I allow you to read my file as I would allow anyone to read it if they asked -- because I accept the things that I have and have not done and should like to see you someday do the same.

I am rehabilitated, but as you may have guessed I am not so much a changed person as some Inmates fear they may become if they allow things to happen. The point is that you are here to experience. Had you lived, you might have, chance permitting, come across some similar happenings as you might here, reflected, and have changed because of it. Here, you do so with more protection, and with a promise of reward at the end.

Then what have you learned here that makes you so different? What is the difference? If you have not changed, what has been rehabilitated?

What am I supposed to see? Experience? To accept what I have done? Fine. I accept it.

I talked my truest friend into death and killed my wife. I scorned my friend's wife and betrayed the man who loved her in spite of her marriage.

I accept that.

And it was great fun.

You somehow think that words will somehow save you here when they are what damned you in the first place.

You'll understand with time.

I will ask that you do not talk down to me. I am not a child and nor am I acting like one. I told you the truth. What am I doing that you find so disagreeable? I have not given you a lie, I have done what you asked the first time you asked it, just as you requested.

I treat you as I would have my superiors at home, except you allow me to ask questions and I ask.

You complain of my treating you like a child when all I did was answer you honestly.

You of all people should understand the connotation of your words.

But I am tired of arguing with you. So...I apologize.
