It might serve to surprise some of you that I did not, in fact, write this most recent distribution, and those of you that have been keeping track ought to be ashamed; you should find my style distinctive by now. Know also that I have never written myself into a story, and that should have been your first indication. The second would be that despite my use of real people at times, I always change their names.

EDIT (after seeing Snape's entry): And honestly! I tell someone to grow thicker skin after a much tamer story, and everyone shakes their heads and scolds. It's because I'm French, isn't it?

Rehearsals are canceled tonight; I'm in need of some rest.

[Private to Abbe de Coulmier]

What the fuck do you think you're doing?

[Private to Angel]

Monsieur, we must have a chat.

[Private to Henry West]

Sparrow, we really must stop waiting for one of us to wind up in the infirmary before we find time to visit with one another. Would you like to go walking?

[Private to Pavi]

How are you feeling?

[A fleeting look of something -- possibly regret -- passes his face.] Is it bad that part of me wishes it was still Romana, though?

[He shakes his head] No. She was... [He hesitates. He didn't know her well, really] a good woman. And you were paired with her for a while. The first warden, I suppose, makes the strongest impact. Just look at those who've been paired six or seven times; it hardly seems to matter to them anymore.

I feel like she was one of the very few that tried. But I could be wrong. [He stops at the railing to look out over it.] I know I wasn't always -- reasonable. And I know I clung to her. I don't think she cared so much -- not to say that she felt nothing. Just that she's not so involved as some.

Perhaps, but her, ah... species doesn't seem to get terribly involved. Just look at the other representatives of it; you got the best of the lot.

[He laughs a little.] That's probably true. [Not wanting to linger on that too long, he chooses to change the subject.] How are Billy and the weasel?

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-11-17 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
They're well. We've finally settled into a routine for the weasel, so she no longer feels so... burdensome.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2009-11-17 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
No further escapes, I trust. [He continues walking.]

[He shakes his head] No, not lately. I hope it will stay that way. [A pause] I still would have preferred a dog, however. Anyway... I have no complaints, really. How's... [He doesn't know what to call whatever the Marquis is doing with the strange, disfigured man] How are things... for you?

[He suspects he was going to ask about Pavi, but knowing West's opinion of him he decides to approach the question more broadly.] My Inmate is a pain in the ass, and possibly un-reformable -- I don't know how one rehabilitates a person who acts on whim rather than habit, but I am doing my best. The Abbe is publishing poor lurid texts, the likes of which would have turned his stomach when I knew him. My current male lead cannot act his way out of a paper bag. And my current -- consort -- is being more difficult and needy than usual. All in all, it could be worse.
