The Doctor and his Inmate. Where are they?

[ooc: The Marquis? Told Coyo in plain sight that he was going to shoot her when this was over. And now that he knows the Doctor gave her the power to bring people here? He...has no qualms with shooting him too :| People are INVITED to stop him before he demotes himself.]

What does it matter?

Are you injured or ill?

Injured, yes.

That...thing...that took my body injured me.

I'm coming.

Good.

[The Marquis is not death tolling; they hadn't gotten to him yet when it went to pot. He finds Iago's cabin, with Renate in tow, hoping he'd run into someone he could sic her on. His hair has been cut short. He is not happy. He knocks.]

[Iago walked over and opened the door, looking and feeling like hell. He had a broken nose, which he had set himself. There were bruises around his face and he walked a bit stiffly. As soon as the door was open, he just left it there and returned to lying down on his bed.]

Renate. [He unhooked her leash and the dog ambles over to Iago's bed, standing on her hind legs so she can poke her nose at his ear. While she does this the Marquis goes to fetch some water.]

[Iago reached down a hand to the dog and then patted his bed, allowing her up if she wished to jump.]

What are you doing? [He watched the Marquis.]

[Renate jumped up and stepped over him to settle on his other side, resting her head on his chest and watching him sadly.]

What I can.

[He drew a chair up beside the bed, sat, and took a clean handkerchief from his pocket. He dunked it in the water and leaned close to start cleaning his face as best as he could.]

I was not aware a librarian could fight in such a manner. [He flinched when the handkerchief brushed across a bruise.]

I'm not a child, Marquis. [He scratched Renate behind the ears lovingly.]

For as much as I fret over you, you might as well be. [He applies with a more gentle hand, now, his jaw set tightly.]

[He was silent for a moment, staring up to the ceiling while the Marquis worked, continuing to pet the dog.]

Why was I chosen for that, Marquis?

[The Marquis watches, frowning, as Renate begins to lap at Iago's fingers.]

I don't know, Iago.

[Iago made a face and sat up, propping himself on his elbows, trying not to dislodge Renate.]

He promised not to harm me.

And look at how well he kept that promise.

[Glower.]

It's not him I'm after.

Killing her or her warden is not going to make this better. [Iago was coaching his warden against revenge...hell had just frozen over. He seemed to realize this and just flopped back down on the bed.]

It's not about revenge. [He realized the absurdity in saying this even as he said it.]

Then what is it about? [Iago obviously didn't believe him.]

I said I would.

[He sighs and shakes his head]

I always knew those doctors had no business being here.

[Iago reached up, running his fingers through his hair.]

Let them be. If you kill them, you will be demoted. And then you will not be able to help me.

[He's quiet for some minutes, continuing to clean in wordless meditation, until he finally says, tired]

They've nothing to fear from me.

Good. [He reached up to try and push his hand away.]

I'm fine. There is not much more you can do for me.

[He nodded and tucked the handkerchief away.]

But there is something you can do for me, if you're willing.

[Iago winced a bit at that.]

It depends on what you're asking me to do.
