impure_tale: (flood - Mme de Montreuil)

162 [Video]

[On the screen appears a severe woman, with an authoritative air and a commanding voice. In the background the light sounds of a dog whining can be heard.]

I need not have set foot in this room before to know it is the den of a creature I have known too well in my lifetime. Such fascinating devices strewn about with all this degeneracy and madness. This place is neither Heaven nor Hell, and the Marquis de Sade has no right to the former and no recourse but the latter. That is a matter that shall be rectified shortly.

You may know me as Mme de Montreuil. My daughter with regret was and still is the Marquise Renee Pelagie de Sade. I bear lettre-de-cachet, an ordinance written by the hand of the King and ordained by God, granting me sole authority over the placement of the man whose position I have taken for a time, without interference via the courts or any erroneous third parties. It is with that authority that I address you, now, and this Admiral who refuses to face me.

I have read the written account of my son-in-law's death and his time here, of which I have now disposed, and I am unmoved. Unfettered from the trappings of societal reputation, I may at last speak candidly of matters past: This man is guilty of the crimes of rape, kidnapping, public indecency, sodomy, high treason, blasphemy, and sedition, and to have granted him power over another soul is damnable in itself. All who have permitted it are now culpable. It is therefore my demand that the powers in this place respect my will and the will of God and with my departure send this wretched man back to Hell where he belongs.

There are to be no negotiations. There will be no exceptions. This is what must be done.

You can't be-

You clearly have no

I -

...

For once, I can't think of a single thing to say.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Then your instincts serve you well.
subtlescience: (Nifty side view.)

[personal profile] subtlescience 2011-05-08 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I've thought of something:

I am sincerely relieved that the Marquis has a sense of humour.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
His humor is born of a place of degeneracy.
subtlescience: (It's all a matter of perspective)

[personal profile] subtlescience 2011-05-08 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I would have said it's a defense mechanism against an overbearing mother-in-law, but as you like.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You yourself might not be here were it the case that you had such a relative, Monsieur.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
If you cannot acquire what is needed then I've no more words to waste on you.
subtlescience: (Doing the crossword.)

[personal profile] subtlescience 2011-05-08 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You realize you're ordering people who are not God to send your son-in-law to Hell, don't you?

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
The powers in this place cannot deny His sovereignty.
subtlescience: (Asshole shrug.)

[personal profile] subtlescience 2011-05-08 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
How, exactly, do you know what it is that "He" wants? Did you receive a letter? A booming voice accompanied by heavenly host? A telephone call?

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly that. A lettre-de-cachet comes on Holy authority.
subtlescience: (Do not want)

[personal profile] subtlescience 2011-05-08 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I think I'll just avoid that circular logic. Thank you.

Enjoy your stay.

[identity profile] buywithme.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
...

Did he really commit rape?

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You would be a fool to believe otherwise.
yourunichase: (bitch far away)

[personal profile] yourunichase 2011-05-08 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, good luck with that.

It is the way of such women to deflect sarcasm thus

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Merci.
yourunichase: (grin)

[personal profile] yourunichase 2011-05-08 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
You're welcome.

[identity profile] shortsghtedlove.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rassilon would roll his eyes because, really, there are no Gods. His father does because, really, what God would care about savage aliens?] If that God of yours were all that interested in sending this 'Marquis' to your Hell, he'd have done so already. But what you speak about this man is the truth? [Because he went through his son's journal and saw him talking with the Marquis. This must be investigated, headache or not.]

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[She would demand that you curb your blasphemous tongue but your question strikes her as more important.]

Of course it is the truth.

[identity profile] shortsghtedlove.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[He may be a noble, but that doesn't mean his completely incapable of rational thought.]

I see. Can you tell me more?

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
And what help would that be?

[identity profile] shortsghtedlove.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
My son has spoken with that man before. I wish to know the people he spends his time with. [TO DISAPPROVE OF THEM, of course. And maybe because he's worrying a bit, but he'll never show that, so Rassilon will never know.]

If you have contact with this Admiral, do let me know.

King Terenas, late of the nation of Lordaeron.

[personal profile] what_ho_jeeves 2011-05-08 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[Aunt Agatha has found a kindred spirit...]

Just when I thought the company my nephew was keeping could fall no further. Actresses, communists and sodomites. This is no place for Bertie.

I wish you luck in sending the wretched creature you're searching for to Divine justice.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you.

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
You disposed of his writing?

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
It served no true purpose.

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps you aren't the intended audience. You've no authority on what writing deserves to exist and what doesn't. How, exactly, did you 'dispose' of it?

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
You had no right. Just as you have no right to be standing in his cabin right now.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
And what authority have you, to determine such things?

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
The authority of a warden. [AND AN OFFICER-- but the British Army... probably doesn't hold much sway over her.] And I can't imagine you'd feel comfortable, anyway, sleeping in the same bed where so much debauchery has happened.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
You are quite correct. However, until suitable accommodations are provided I shall not leave.

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
There are no guest bedrooms. The most I can offer you is my own cabin-- a trade-off for his.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
That depends entirely upon the condition yours is in. [Derisive glance] Though I cannot imagine how they could be much worse.

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
The sheets are freshly laundered, and I can assure you nothing inappropriate has occurred in my stay here.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
You will introduce yourself to me, then. I shall consider it.

[Aghhh his identity is probably compromised by the manuscript. A LIE:]

Sam Tyler. At your service.

[Ah. He apparently found you very mundane. Therefore you are safe :|]

I would say that it is my pleasure to make your acquaintance, Monsieur Tyler. However, under the present circumstances, matters such as pleasure are probably better left unspoken. [Meaning there really is none.] I will see this cabin, then.

[PHEW.]

Of course, Mademoiselle de Montreuil. [NRGHHH good thing West is used to being polite to all kinds of people as an upper class snob.] I'll come and collect you shortly.

STEALTH PRIVATE

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
That's Madame. [She can't hold it against you TOO much. You are English.] I assure you I am quite married and far too old besides.

STEALTH PRIVATE

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
[MY INSTINCT WAS TO SAY MADAME AND I FAILED :V]

A slip of the tongue. French was never my strongest subject.

I can see that. I will await your arrival, then.
