I left the barge, an' ended up on me own ship, near an hour before the battle that took my life had begun. I had Sparrow in the hold, the East India Company at my back and a fleet of bloody pirates bearing down.

I cut Turner Senior free, sent him over to his son to act as envoy, and gave 'em Jack Sparrow as a sign of good faith. Told 'em if they could get my heart free, my ship was theirs.

We battled. Soon as the chest was given back to me, my men turned to the pirate side. We broke off the attack before significant loss of life.

The Company didn't have the slightest idea what hit them.

After that, I shoved off to perform me duties as they were given to me. Not a month passed when my barnacles shed off an' I was human again.
