Thirty days. I have decided to impose an opening night for our little play, which seems to go at the same pace when it comes to preparation, and whether the lot of you are prepared or not, the event will be staged then. I can't abide any further delays on account of disappearances or laziness. Once it is finished we'll all have one less task at hand, now won't we?

Also, to anyone who has seen a black dog, likely with a leash attached, please bring her to me. She got away from me up on deck.

[Filtered to Infirmary Staff]

I've gone and slipped up on deck. Now I've made it back to my room well enough, but I'm thinking I should probably come in to be certain I haven't seriously injured myself. Will someone be on hand?

[Private to Iago]

How are you feeling?

[identity profile] inhumandog.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Wonderful. How are you feeling?

[identity profile] inhumandog.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course.

Was this a general update or did you have something else to say?

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
You know that I must look in on you.

LIES

[identity profile] inhumandog.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I am just fine. You may go back to doing what old men do.

He is, Iago. He's forcing his loved ones to entertain him. Now start dancing.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pleased to see then that you've settled since our walk.

Dance, monkey, dance?

[identity profile] inhumandog.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I have. Leave the matter be. I do not wish to speak of it any longer.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll leave it be once I am certain the matter is settled, Iago.

[identity profile] inhumandog.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I told you it was settled.

Leave it be.

Private- He's a little on edge...

[identity profile] inhumandog.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
No. Not for now. Banish the thoughts from your mind. Forget I said them. And Leave. Me. Be.

Or I will not perform your play.

Iago, have I not put your mind at ease before? Please do not forget you have learned here or what aid I can offer.

I am only asking because there is a matter that I wish to propose to you. I do not require an answer now, but I would ask that you at least hear me and take some time to consider it.

Private

[identity profile] inhumandog.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
This time you cannot help me. Not entirely.

What are you proposing?

Private

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You are making progress. You must realize that.

I want you to meet with Major West and speak with him on the matter. I think he could put your mind at ease.

Private

[identity profile] inhumandog.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely not
Why would

Not at this time.

Private

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
No answers for now. I asked that you think it over. I will not force you to go -- he has insisted he will only speak to you if you choose to approach him.

Iago, I know there are thoughts at war within you that are simpler to bury rather than address, but it will not ease you. It will only hurt you more, and I do wish to see you free from such things.

Major West is an honorable man, and quite reasonable. You may trust him. even if you do not trust me

I'll thank you to consider it, and I'll speak no more about it now.

I will consider it.

[After a few minutes.]

What happens to those who go off the edge of the Barge?

Private

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The Barge swerves after them and, if experience reminds me, crashes into whatever world that person happened to land in.

[identity profile] inhumandog.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Dear God...

But do they...disappear?

Private

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Only if we do not find them before the Barge finishes repairing itself. Not to mention anyone else that will have fallen overboard with the impact.

[identity profile] itweresport.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Sir, I did see a black dog trailing a line behind. I did not think to catch it; it were not a strange sort of thing to see dogs roamin' about the town. They always returned home when they were in want of food.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I would rest with more ease having her back in my cabin.

[identity profile] itweresport.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Shall I catch her for you?

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
She should come when called. Her name is Renate.

[identity profile] evilbystatute.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ultimatums and instilling a little panic is the best way to get anyone to pick up a play. It's true.

A black dog, you say? Very... dramatic. I'll keep an eye out for it.

[identity profile] impure-tale.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Less dramatic, more...overexcitable.

[identity profile] evilbystatute.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Animals do tend to be that way when they're alive, yes. Does he have a name?

[identity profile] evilbystatute.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Her. Right, yes.

I was expecting something a little more ominous, admittedly. I see someone's found her, though.

[The Marquis took a little longer than he expected, but then he was also limping. Coming in, he offered what he hoped was a genial smile, but he was immediately looking for someplace to sit down.]

[Martha had been on the look out for the Marquis, mostly because the infirmary had been fairly quiet as of late; something she didn't think was bound to last long. When she saw him enter limping and looking for a place to sit down, Martha came out and met him with a stool with wheels on it. It would have been easier to go for a wheelchair, but this was much faster.] Hello.

Good girl, good girl... [He winces as he settles on it -- most of the pain radiating in his back and right side, but there was also his ankle and a slight bang on his elbow -- his feet had gone right out from under him.] I've made quite a mess of myself, haven't I?

I try. [The words were spoken quickly and with a smile as she gingerly wheeled him into an examine area.] Here's hoping not too badly. [Once they were inside, and Martha had pulled the curtain around them, she looked to him again.] Do you want a hand onto the examine table? [It would be easier to examine him there, but if things were too bad for him, then she would try to do it without jostling him too badly.]

[He nodded assuringly -- mostly to himself] I think I can manage myself. [And with that he rose, bracing a hand on the table before settling there with some ease, if not a little visible discomfort.]

[Martha had her hands ready to help, but was reassured when he moved easier onto the table. When he was seated on the table, Martha stepped forward and she picked up a scanner. Really, Martha was more than little glad that McCoy had taught her how to use it.) What hurts?

Lower back. [He rubbed his right arm just above the elbow] Mild bruising in other places. [He held up his injured leg slightly.] Twisted the ankle on the way down but I've sprained it before. Doesn't hurt as much. But it's safe to be certain, oui? [He's been a lot more active than usual lately, owing to the physical demands that Renate imposed when they were in the CES, and closer examination would show that. But because of this, he knows he should do what was in his power to keep from being laid up for too long.]

[When he said lower back, the scanner was pointed towards it with the accompanying bleeping noises. She nodded wordlessly before she moved it over his elbow, and then down his legs. As she worked, she spoke.] So how is Renate behaving? Has she gotten better with being so rambunctious? [Martha had really enjoyed having the company of the dog while she had taken care of her. A part of her wished she had one of her really considered asking the Admiral for an animal of her own, but didn't think it would be fair to the pet with the hours she worked at the infirmary.]

Generally her training has come along well. [He was grateful for the distraction and his tone turned conversational.] I don't know what grabbed her attention today, but I was not paying attention when she decided to start running.

I'm glad. I bet it was something shiny or a stray whistle up on deck to make her take off so. [The bleeping continued as she moved lower and traced the scanner over his ankle as well.] If you'd like, I can take her out and go for a run with her or something. I kinda miss her. [Martha grinned again before she took a step back.] Doesn't look like anything's broken. Some bruises. I can give you a minor pain killer to help. And ice.
