[The Marquis appears to be in the hallway outside his room. The decoration on his door is making its irritating wailing noises, which isn't what has him wincing. What can also be heard on camera is Renate barking hysterically.]

Thank you, Admiral. [Saaaarcasm?] As if she had little other reason to feel on edge this month.

[He takes the offending item down and throws it down the hallway, keeping hold of Renate's leash as well as he can.]

Since I haven't the pleasure of addressing the culprits responsible in person this will have to suffice: She won't forget you, but I may forget to keep hold of her leash when next you meet.

[Spam for Megamind]

[He's started to bring Renate out for walks again, starting on the main deck, and she has been less given to run, at first laying her ears back at many a person that walks by her and shying from other dogs. Today is a little better. Trusting her master's hand and herself, her sense of play has begun to slowly return. For this the Marquis is glad. She still, at times, will stop and whine when he reaches to pet her, something apologetic coming out of her, perhaps, from some memory of what the sickness had done to her -- impressions that were hazy and dream-like and perhaps not full memories, given what it had done to her mind.]

It would appear that Lestat has left the barge. His cabin is empty, and my item no longer  responds to him.

To those of you that were especially hospitable to my wife while she was here, I --

[He's cut off by the sound of growling, and he glances somewhere offscreen.]

Renate? [His eyebrows raise, more firmly, so as to assert some form of command, get her attention. The growling continues.] Renate?

Well. If one must die....

[There's a humming, almost singsong quality to the Marquis' voice when he speaks, but it seems forced. He's returned to his own chambers to recover from the death toll; there seemed to be too many people there anyway, and he's a veteran to Barge death by now.]

I wonder -- would anyone care to volunteer a little time to walk my dog while I am resting over the next few days?

I seem to always find myself so very busy when these days roll around. Fortunate for me, then, that Renate is so demanding of attention this morning.

Come now, speak up. We can hear you.
impure_tale: (behbeh!marquis)
[The camera tumbles and flips as the communicator clatters to the ground, and the audio immediately cuts in with a high pitched noise that might raise alarms immediately, until, as a small child with ridiculously curly hair and a cherub face comes into view, the sound is then identifiable as laughter. A black dog that is far larger than the child smothers his face with kisses while he giggles and tries in vain to push her off.]

(ooc: Spam is welcome, as the door to his cabin is probably ajar. The Marquis is affected. Most you need to know is he's five-ish, cute as a button, and given to tiny bouts of violate rage when other kids still his toys.)

I suppose if my wrists ache too much to write at the pace to which I am accustomed, I should perhaps look for other diversions to fill my time. As it is, I might benefit from a few books from the library, if anyone would be so kind as to fetch them for me.

[Spam for Riddick]

[Most of the Marquis' time has been spent in his own bed resting. He has been seen, usually around lunch time and dinner time, fetching a meal for himself and Renate in the dining hall. At these times his cane has returned to regular use, and he has not stayed long, not even to chat. Now he is once again resting, with a small pile of books at his bedside that have been read and reread many a time and now therefore lack their old luster. Renate has gone to the main deck on walks with Riddick but beyond that has, with much concern, remained faithfully at her Master's side, often sleeping with him on the bed to share her warmth with him. She is settled with him, facing the foot and the rest of his apartments beyond, including the door leading out, her ears flicking back and forth while he turns the final pages of yet another book he has read at least three times in the years he has been here. His journal sits beside him, open and awaiting further comments. He looks tired, as though he may only need a few more pages before he is able to drift off into a short nap.]

I do not suppose anyone in our infirmary can provide care and assistance for a dog as well as they might a human? After Sexby's failed attempt to re-introduce me to his warped concepts of justice, my Renate has shown a few signs of still being in pain from the struggle. It is possible she is bruised and nothing more, but it is much better to be safe, and I would be a poor keeper to ignore her needs, but she has been rather adamant to remain at my side despite what injuries she might have.

I took a fall during the incident, and while the pain is not so much worse for myself, I'm sure there are few among you that would pass up the chance to get me on one of your tables again.

...I also understand that Chief Stildyne was among those attacked. Is he still with us, then?

(set after this thread)

[The sound cuts in to the din of an angry dog barking somewhere in the background, but it is not long before haggard breath can be heard, then finally]

...doctor.

[Another gasp, a strained groan.]

I n..nneed a doctor..

(ooc: So the Marquis just got the crap kicked out of him by Sexby, over a leftover incident from the Masterworld plot a year ago. Yay continuity!)
impure_tale: (warden item)
[The Marquis is dressed for going in to port -- that is he seems to be a good deal less ostentatious, his shirt, though full-sleeved is of a clearly breathable make -- his trousers durable, boots over shoots. His hair has been tied back in a simple, functional tail, and he is putting on gloves as he speaks.]

Iago, I rather hope you're feeling up to a few days of 'roughing it'. That means leave the 'DS', if you please.

[The 'screen' moves as he picks up the journal, and you can hear a dog whining in the background while the Marquis talks to her.]

Stay.
impure_tale: (behbeh!marquis)
[There is a small child on the screen, being favored by kisses from Renate, who is large enough that he could ride her if he were so inclined. Those that know the Marquis' cabin from either videos or visiting will recognize that this is, indeed, filmed in his quarters. But this child, with a head of massive blonde curls and a cherubic air of sweetness, is questionably male to start. And too sweet, to boot, to be the Marquis. ...Well, until he talks.]

Super! I have a fine dog. This dog is mine because she loves me. But where have my servants gone?

[The Marquis sounds most tired and his voice sounds very labored.]

Such a lovely dream last night. I wish that I hadn't woken this morning.

Wardens please be advised that Iago has returned and is presently in Level 0.

I will also require someone to walk my Renate for me today. I am...somewhat under the weather.

(ooc: Naomi and I are assuming Pavi arrived last night and slipped in while the Marquis was sleeping. He woke this morning alone and assumed he dreamt the whole thing and did not show up to meals today :| Because he's moping in bed. We'll be backdating spam :3  ALSO ANY DOCTOR THAT WANTS TO VOLUNTEER, I'D LIKE TO ASSUME HE SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR HIM AFTER HE CAUGHT HIM.)

Well, that certainly wasn't the most unpleasant flood, but it's already taken its toll. I might be some years younger, physically, than I was when I graduated, but it would seem my back certainly isn't. This is what I get for being hospitable and giving up my bed to a toddler and a puppy. I'll be by the infirmary later to have the matter looked into.

[Private to Sexby]

I have been entertaining the possibility of permitting Iago to see Judas without supervision or schedule, but I would of course prefer to be certain that you are in agreement, and under what conditions you feel it should be offered.

(ooc: The Marquis has been a good Warden/surrogate throughout all of this. He was firm and insightful. He played with Iago. He read to him. He was surprisingly more fatherly than he was to his own children. ...He also spent the entire weekend IN EXCRUTIATING PAIN, without letting on. Because he's been giving his bed to Iago and sleeping in his chair. So yeah. Go old dude!)

Thirty days. I have decided to impose an opening night for our little play, which seems to go at the same pace when it comes to preparation, and whether the lot of you are prepared or not, the event will be staged then. I can't abide any further delays on account of disappearances or laziness. Once it is finished we'll all have one less task at hand, now won't we?

Also, to anyone who has seen a black dog, likely with a leash attached, please bring her to me. She got away from me up on deck.

[Filtered to Infirmary Staff]

I've gone and slipped up on deck. Now I've made it back to my room well enough, but I'm thinking I should probably come in to be certain I haven't seriously injured myself. Will someone be on hand?

[Private to Iago]

How are you feeling?

Once again, I convey my thanks to Doctor Jones, who was so kind as to look after my Renate whilst I was feeling under the weather.

In light of the recent health crisis, rehearsals are postponed.

[Private to Henry West]

I trust that if you can be so angry with the kitchen staff, you must be healthy.

[Warden Filter]

When you lose ground with your Inmate -- and nobody lie; I know most of you have had this happen -- how do you usually recover?

No rehearsals tonight, my lovelies. I'm certain many of you were up celebrating the night before, and those of you that weren't -- use the free evening and take advantage.

Some of you might have noticed my new constant companion in the halls or at meals and are aware I had not chosen a name for her. Owing to the nation from which her breed originated, I have decided to settle on a name indigenous to the region. She seems to respond well to 'Renate'. It means 'reborn'.

[Private to Rose Tyler]

The Abbe's door has -- changed. Tell me that you moved him.
