Well. If one must die....

[There's a humming, almost singsong quality to the Marquis' voice when he speaks, but it seems forced. He's returned to his own chambers to recover from the death toll; there seemed to be too many people there anyway, and he's a veteran to Barge death by now.]

I wonder -- would anyone care to volunteer a little time to walk my dog while I am resting over the next few days?
impure_tale: (do not know if want?)
[The Marquis appears onscreen and holds his journal in such a way to reveal the chamber in which he and Riddick and Renate have found themselves. It is sterile and clean like much of the facility, with a whole wall open to the landscape beyond -- far less hospitable than where they are now, but only for the moment, perhaps. There is some mild interference in the camera, the lightest static.]

We've been in this room some hours, now, and cannot find [buzzzzzz]-o move forward or go back the way we came.

[An odd, electronic tinkle of notes can be heard, a slow and flowing bar played, and one can see there appears to be some light coming up from underneath. He turns his journal to show it]

However, this happens every few minutes or s-- [static]

impure_tale: (what was that?)
I'm not at all averse to awakening with a warm body beside my own, but I am not the sort that gorges himself on wine and excess to the point of memory loss. One of the reasons is that I enjoy remembering my exploits, particularly how I came to have someone in bed with me. Admiral, you would do well to remember that.

One of these days you ought to place me in a locale with which I am familiar. For once I'd like to not be the silly foreigner who comes from a time bereft of electricity and adult book stores.

That said, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. So what do the Romans here, do?

Lucius, we will be taking a late dinner; if we dine then we dine in style. But remember: When in Rome, do as the Romans do. We'll be vacationing like "Muggles", as you call them. So your wand stays stowed away and you must dress appropriately.

I think the Admiral might have been paying attention to my last entry, to choose a location such as this. Giselle would have been so sad to miss it; I imagine she was born in a place such as this.

Admittedly, I prefer the girl to the environment. Something tells me I'll enjoy no vices in a kingdom such as this that won't come with nasty yet fanciful spells of some sort. Ah, disappointment!

What did not disappoint, however, was the passel of new arrivals this month. If only they were always so friendly, I should die (again) a happy, fulfilled old man.

Iago, I trust you're staying out of trouble? ...And did not fall overboard?

Also, I have noticed that this charming little place has had an effect on our language. Let's make a game of it. You cannot censor innuendo, after all. So be clever. What can you get away with?

I think it would be best for me to remain on the ship during this venture, but if my Inmate desires an outing, he will require a chaperone.

Iago, if such a thing is arranged, I have two conditions.

To the rest of you, please enjoy yourselves and have a thought for this exceedingly bored patient. Update your journals regularly with things that are interesting. Give me something to read and remark upon!
impure_tale: (warden item)
[The Marquis is dressed for going in to port -- that is he seems to be a good deal less ostentatious, his shirt, though full-sleeved is of a clearly breathable make -- his trousers durable, boots over shoots. His hair has been tied back in a simple, functional tail, and he is putting on gloves as he speaks.]

Iago, I rather hope you're feeling up to a few days of 'roughing it'. That means leave the 'DS', if you please.

[The 'screen' moves as he picks up the journal, and you can hear a dog whining in the background while the Marquis talks to her.]

Stay.

I do not think I could have ever predicted being exasperated by a place like this. Owing to the -- overenthusiastic hommages of a few kindly denizens in this fair city, I am presently tucked away in a secluded area. Iago -- on pain of repercussion when we return to the Barge, I expect you to be on your best behavior.

(ooc: The Marquis? Used roses and drinks to woo several people in Kissing Town...and now they won't leave him alone. He's physically and mentally exhausted and actually probably having trouble getting around, wherever it is that he's hiding. You'll know who one of these people are if you meet anybody in passing looking for "Edward".)

Iago, I have not seen much of modern America as yet, but what little I've seen has left an enormous impression. We are both about to witness wonders that are unimaginable. Your first port, my treasure, is going to be one not soon forgotten. I promise you that.

We'll need to make preparations, however.

And one thing we're definitely not going to miss is the theatre. If we can find someone actually showing Streetcar it might be helpful to both of us, not to mention others in the troupe. Seeing it done might answer a few questions we both have. And if there isn't one, we'll find something else.

That being said, is there anyone here who might be willing to act as a guide for myself and my Inmate?

[Private to Henry West -- readable by Dr Horrible]

I feel silly asking this, but my Inmate is in need of some modern clothing. I don't suppose you or Billy might be willing to lend a set? He'll only need one, as I'll be able to buy him more.

[Private to Pavi]

And I would very much like a little time alone with you at some point. But you are perhaps better versed in the locale than I am?

I see why the Admiral said I would not want to miss this port. My fellow denizens, seeing as I've no Inmate to look after for the port (and thank goodness for small comforts) and I am feeling a sense of newfound freedom, there are some of you that may see very little of me -- some of you that will see much. It depends upon whether my venues for sport happen to align with your own. As it is, if I am not enjoying wine, theater and gaiety, I shall be taking in something a good deal more private with any number of young socialites, Senators' daughters, prostitutes, slaves and thespians.

It is going to be a thrilling holiday, my darlings, and I'll be certain to keep tally  for you.

I think I ate people. Did I eat people?

Was one of them my Warden, by chance? She seems to have disappeared. Quickest turnover yet!

I don't know which incompetent trollop it is that's been assigned me this time, but it has been more than a week since the announcement and I have yet to hear a single word, much less see a face.

I require briefings on the Port. I want off this bilge-infested raft, and I'm not missing a chance to do so, nor am I going to place my life in unnecessary danger, just because someone else is failing to do their job.

Well... that was positively vile, wasn't it? Even before things started changing. Is that what centuries of repression and religious self-righteousness gets the human race? Bland, bleak, overbound, so devoid of any negative influence that we've all but lost any semblance of flavor?

I'll stick to the Barge any day.

Better still, I'd sooner choose my cell at the Asylum.

In what manner is this supposed to be pleasant?

Oh, come on! He deserved it!

I am rather looking forward to this. I've always wanted to attend the Carnivale.

Romana? We are going out, yes? I've been well behaved, haven't I?

I must see your costume.
